Math
While the Mathematics and Natural Sciences category in YES does not require that students take a Mathematics course at Vanderbilt, many students will choose to do so. Here is a brief guide to calculus placement:
- Math 1005: for students with a weak background in algebra/trigonometry who plan further study of calculus at Vanderbilt.
- Math 1100: for students who do not plan further study of calculus at Vanderbilt. Differential and integral calculus at an introductory level.
- Math 1200-1201: for students who plan to take two semesters of calculus at Vanderbilt. Most pre-med students and some Economics majors.
- Math 1300-1301-2300: for students who plan to take more than two semesters of calculus at Vanderbilt. Economics majors who intend to go to graduate school, most Math and natural science majors, Engineering students.
