FLAS Academic Year Fellowships
The Center for Latin American Studies at Vanderbilt University receives funding from the Department of Education to support Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) Awards for Intensive Studies of Portuguese or indigenous Latin American languages. Fellowships provide tuition expenses for the study of Portuguese, Kˈicheˈ Mayan, or another indigenous language (up to $5,000) and a stipend of $2,500. Any graduate or undergraduate student with Luso-Brazilian or indigenous language-related interests and who is a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident is eligible to apply. Fellowships are for one year, but can be extended provided the student remains in good standing and successfully completes the FLAS re-application process.
Applications must be submitted electronically to CLAS Assistant Director Nicolette Kostiw (email).
Application is due by February 9, 2016. Awards will be announced in early March.
See Student Summer Awards for information on Summer FLAS Fellowships.
