Professor Gutierrez combines economic theory and econometric tools to study the causes and consequences of economic development. His recent work includes a new intra-household allocation model to estimate family economies of scale, and empirical analysis of the intergenerational transmission of fertility preferences, the study of implicit labor contracts in middle-income countries, and methodological contributions to policy evaluation. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Yale University.
