Screenings and Discussions with our ViH Friends

Here’s a message from our friends at Vandy-In-Hollywood about their upcoming events!

Hey, everyone —

First of all wanted to give a huge thanks to everyone who turned out for last week’s inaugural event of the Vandy-in-Hollywood Virtual Screening & Speaker Series —writer/director Sam Friedlander’s “Babysplitters!” We had a great conversation not only with Sam, but with several of the Vandy folks who helped make the movie!

Secondly — we’re very excited to announce our next to events:

• A screening of “Windows On the World,” followed by a discussion with screenwriter/producer Robert Anderson and composer David Russo. The discussion will be moderated by Rich Hull, founder of Pongalo, the Latin-focused streaming service distributing the film.

• A screening of “The Witch” (one of my all-time favorite horror movies), followed by a discussion with “The Witch” producer and VU alum Ethan Lazar!

Here’s information about each event:

• OCT. 25 — “WINDOWS ON THE WORLD” — SCREENING & LIVE DISCUSSION

Shortly after 9/11, a heroic young Mexican man crosses the border into America and travels north to New York City to attempt to find his missing immigrant father who may or may not have survived the World Trade Center attack.

Discussion guests: Robert Mailer Anderson (screenwriter/producer), David Russo (composer), Rich Hull (moderator; founder, Pongalo)

Discussion date: Sun., 10/25, 5pm (PT), 6pm (MT), 7pm (CT), 8pm (ET)

• NOV. 8 — “THE WITCH” — SCREENING & LIVE DISCUSSION

In 1630 New England, panic and despair envelops a farmer, his wife and their children when their youngest son suddenly vanishes. The family blames Thomasin, the oldest daughter who was watching the boy at the time of his disappearance. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, twin siblings Mercy and Jonas suspect Thomasin of witchcraft, testing the clan’s faith, loyalty and love to one another.

Discussion guests: Ethan Lazar (producer), Chad Gervich (moderator)

Discussion date: Sun., 11/8, 5pm (PT), 6pm (MT), 7pm (CT), 8pm (ET)

To screen the movie:  The movie will be available to screen (free for VU) for one week before the 11/8 discussion (from 11/1-11/8). Simply RSVP to the link below and on 10/18 you’ll be emailed the links for the film and the discussion. (You can also buy or rent “The Witch” through Amazon Prime or Apple TV/iTunes.)
