In 2019, the Department of Cinema & Media Arts moved into a brand-new home! Created by a full-floor renovation in Buttrick Hall, our new space is located in the heart of Vanderbilt’s historic campus. This location brings students and faculty together in a vibrant learning-teaching environment, with all facilities on one floor and in close proximity. Take a tour through the photos below!
Classrooms
The new space includes two classrooms with surround sound and digital projection. One doubles as a large screening room/theatre with ample stadium seating. Whether students are learning about film theory, viewing each other’s work, or attending an alumni panel, the space is designed to promote interaction and creativity.
Lounge
Our new lounge area provides space for students and faculty to collaborate in groups or meet one-on-one for in-depth conversations.
Screening Wall
Located just outside the elevator on our floor, the large screening wall showcases a rotating display of student and faculty work.
Creative Lab
Our large, state-of-the-art creative lab promotes collaboration and gives students hands-on experience with video and film post-production.
Faculty offices and administrative support
Bright, spacious offices provide a pleasant environment for faculty to work and meet with students. VU-CAS Media Loans is also located on our floor. Their office provides quality equipment loans to students to facilitate their CMA projects.
