Ariell Zimran

Assistant Professor of Economics

Ariell Zimran is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Vanderbilt University and a Faculty Research Fellow of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He is an economic historian whose research focuses primarily on migration, especially during the Age of Mass Migration, and on health in the nineteenth-century United States. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University in 2016 and his B.S.F.S. in International Economics from Georgetown University in 2010. In the 2019-2020 academic year, he was a W. Glenn Campbell and Rita Ricardo-Campbell National Fellow and the William C. Bark National Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. In the 2020-2021 academic year he was a visiting scholar at the Opportunity and Inclusive Growth Institute at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.
