Polina Petrov
Graduate Student
Astrophysics
Polina, originally from Pittsburgh and having attended Carnegie Mellon before joining Vanderbilt, is an expert in PTA continuous wave searches. Her research focuses on the likely host galaxies of supermassive black-hole binaries. She develops new statistical techniques to rank features and markers of binarity in galaxy catalogs for host identification. Additionally, she has studied milestones for binary detection and parameter estimation, along with the factors affecting the sky localization of signals.
