Levi came to Vanderbilt from the University of Virginia, and is leading research in searching for anisotropies in the intensity of the nanohertz-frequency gravitational-wave background. These kinds of anisotropy searches may be precursor signatures of an emerging individual gravitational-wave sources. Levi is also carrying out research into spectral discrimination of cataclysmic variable binary systems against the Galactic white-dwarf binary population in the LISA band.
