Research Interests

I am a physicist interested in fundamental energy transfer in organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) and molecular magnetism in complex organometallic materials. My current research interests are also set at the intersection of my expertise in physical and mathematical sciences and my understanding of the humanities. In particular, I am researching the history of astronomy in eastern Europe and the Mediterranean, with a focus on the transfer of knowledge. This research is part of the digital humanities project Studenica, which studies the application of astronomical knowledge and optics in the design of medieval churches in the Balkans. At Vanderbilt, I am developing research and offering courses on ethical questions that might arise upon the First Contact between sentient entities and people, as well as on the role of immigrant scientists in the USA.
