Y La Bamba

Juniper off the album Lupon readily captures the hazy folk mysticism of Y La Bamba’s oeuvre. The complex sounds create a rich story which takes from a hybrid of different influences both musically and inspirationally. According to their press release, “With Y La Bamba, Luzelena Mendoza draws from both her strict Catholic upbringing as an only daughter of a Mexican immigrant and a debilitating illness that led her fall away from her faith.”
