Juntao Li
Senior Lecturer of German Studies
Juntao Li’s expertise lies in Black German Studies and Applied Linguistics. His research interests encompass multilingualism, language ecology, Black German Studies, intercultural citizenship, and gender studies. In his Ph.D. dissertation, he investigated third language education in the discourses of social justice and emphasized an ecological perspective. He has authored publications on topics of intercultural citizenship, decolonization, curriculum design, and language education.
Before joining Vanderbilt, Juntao Li served as the co-director of the German Language and Culture Program at the University of Connecticut, where he actively worked on integrating intercultural citizenship in world language education. His teaching experience includes Black German Studies, German for business, German for engineering, German cinema, multilingualism, migration, and German language classes of all proficiency levels.
