Lyndell B. Edmondson
My name is Lyndell B. Edmondson. I am a native Nashvillian, and I am a proud product of the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. My father’s sisters were teachers and my mother’s sisters either taught school or worked in the school system. It was obvious that I was destined to become a educator.
I am a graduate of Tennessee State University with a degree in Elementary Education. I have also attended Cumberland University and Fresno Pacific University and Trevecca University graduating with a Master’s in Administration and Supervision.
I have taught in practically every neighborhood in Nashville, spending the bulk of my teaching career, as an original Meigs Magnet Middle School teacher. I retired from MNPS in 2021 after dedicating forty-six years working with Nashville’s youth. Because teaching is such a part of my DNA, I came back to work part-time at John Early Museum Magnet Middle School, where I am currently employed as an Instructional Designer and Senior Museum Curator.
Music has been a large part of my life. I started playing violin as a fifth grader and played through college. By middle and through most of high school, I played with “Cremona Strings”. We traveled the country playing Jazz. At the start of my eleventh-grade year, I began playing with the Fisk University Jazz Ensemble, performing with and for some of Music’s Greats, Aretha Franklin, Cannonball Adderley, Donnie Hathaway, Quincy Jones, Donald and Bobby Byrd and countless others.
My greatest joys in life are my love of God, my daughter, Quen, and my four grandchildren.
