We are thrilled to announce that Chancey Herbolsheimer, a graduate student in the Department of Sociology, has been awarded the prestigious Provost’s Pathbreaking Discovery Award. This award, the highest honor from the Provost and the Graduate School, recognizes exceptional scholarship and outstanding accomplishments.

Chancey’s dissertation, titled “Principles of Care: Understanding Occupational Enactment in Substance-Use Treatment for Pregnant People,” under the guidance of Professor Dan Cornfield, exemplifies her dedication and contributions to the field of sociology. Her work has been published in various prestigious journals, including “Afraid to Seek Care: Fetal Protection Legislation as a Barrier to Prenatal Healthcare” in Social Science and Medicine in 2022.

In addition to the $2,500 stipend, Chancey will be honored at the annual Graduate School Honor’s Banquet on March 18, 2024. This recognition is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and scholarly excellence.

Please join us in congratulating Chancey Herbolsheimer on this well-deserved achievement! We are proud of her accomplishments and look forward to her continued success as she begins her journey as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Texas Tech in the fall of 2024.
