Congratulations to our former graduate student Dr. Philip J. Pettis!

Dr. Philip J. Pettis is a former graduate student of ours. PJ currently serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at Michigan State University (MSU). He successfully defended his dissertation in spring 2023. After being honored with the Best Dissertation Award from the Sociology of Mental Health Section of the American Sociological Association this April, his dissertation just won the Roberta G. Simmons Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Medical Sociology Section of the ASA. Double awards, double congratulations to PJ!

Title: “Contextualizing Heterosexism: An Intersectional Approach to Sexual Minority Health Inequalities”
