Grant Management
The Office of Research at A&S provides administrative oversight for externally sponsored research activities throughout the award life cycle. This includes:
- proposal development assistance
- award administration guidance
- policies and procedures for the College of Arts & Science
- grant management training
- college-level review/approval
Some of the pre-award services we offer include:
- Guidance and oversight for the development of the grant proposal
- Assistance with interpreting and applying guidelines established by the funding opportunity
- Correspondence with the sponsor, as necessary
- Contact with sub-award organizations, as needed, to collect required documentation
- Development and review of the proposed budget for accuracy, compliance, and consistency
- Compliance with sponsor, university, federal, and non-federal rules and regulations
- Application of College of Arts & Science policies & procedures
- Record creation for the research proposal in Vanderbilt’s required electronic applications
- Liaise with Vanderbilt’s Sponsored Program Administration (SPA)
- Assistance with the electronic assembly and submission to the sponsor
Our post-award services include partnering with departments for:
- The receipt of new awards and Oracle award/project numbers
- Assistance with interpreting and applying guidelines established by sponsors
- Compliance with costing standards established by sponsors and the university, to ensure charges are allowable, allocable, and reasonable
- A financial review for each sponsored project, every 60 days, provided to principal investigators
- The close out and final reporting of awards once sponsored projects are complete
- Communication with Vanderbilts Office of Contract and Grant Accounting
- Contact with the sponsor's programmatic and financial representatives for each award
