In this talk, we discuss orthogonality of arithmetic functions, and how weighted averages and discrete harmonic analysis can be used to prove deep arithmetic results. We discuss how these techniques can be used to prove equidistribution of the prime-omega function in number fields, and introduce some associated recent results and implications.
