Student Life

The Vanderbilt campus is filled with endless opportunities to engage, participate, connect, and explore. Below are a few highlights and you can also read more about Vanderbilt student life.

Campus Map

Attending university in a 340-acre arboretum certainly has its perks, but if you wind up lost, our campus map allows you to search locations filtered by building or service category (academic, residential, student services, etc.).

Office of Housing and Residential Experience

The Office of Housing and Residential Experience provides safe, secure, comfortable, accessible, and healthy housing for its residents. Programming for residents builds communities that meet students’ social needs for belonging, friendship, recognition, respect, and dignity. These communities foster learning, personal development, academic achievement, and successful transitions for both new students and graduates.

Residential Colleges

The residential college experience is built on a foundation of intentional and mutually beneficial educational networks that encourage discovery, creative inquiry, and engaged citizenship for students, faculty, and staff.  Vanderbilt Residential Colleges  promote the development of intellect, community, personal well-being, self-discovery, and cultural awareness.

Vanderbilt Visions

Vanderbilt Visions enables groups of new students to discover college life together. All first-year students are assigned to one of 93 Visions groups. These groups—each of which includes about 18 first-year students—meet frequently throughout CommonVU Orientation. Starting on Move-In Weekend, your Visions group will help you form strong connections and support networks with classmates across different houses, schools, perspectives, and geographical backgrounds and assist with your transition to becoming a successful college student.

Student Organizations

Student organizations range in focus from professional and academic to cultural and recreational. Whatever you're looking for, there are opportunities to connect with students who share your interests, background, and goals.

Greek Life

The Office of Greek Life is a team of caring and committed advocates for a fraternity and sorority experience that upholds the values espoused by their organizations and Vanderbilt University. With the support of campus partners, international fraternity and sorority staff, and alumni, the office provides opportunities that support student learning and add value to the collegiate experience.
