Procedure for New and Revised Graduate Academic Programs

Process

Approval process for new or revised graduate degree and certificate programs from departments or interdisciplinary programs in the College of Arts and Science is as follows:

  1. The proposal must comply with all of the relevant requirements in the Procedure for the Approval of New and Revised A&S Undergraduate Academic Programs

  2. A department chair and/or program director submits the proposal to the A&S Dean and Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Education.

  3. The Committee on Graduate Education (CGE) reviews and votes.

  4. If CGE vote is positive, the A&S Faculty Council reviews and votes.

  5. If FC vote is positive, full A&S faculty reviews and votes.

  6. If the full faculty vote is positive, the A&S Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Education forwards the proposal to the Associate Dean of the Graduate School.
