Sophia Yumi Clark

Sophia received her BA in German Studies and Studio Art with an emphasis in Art History and her MA in German Studies at California State University, Long Beach where she taught beginning and intermediate German language courses.  As an exchange student, she studied art and German as a foreign langiuage at the University of Heidelberg and the Hochschule fuer Angewandte Wissenschaften in Hamburg.  During the 2013-2014 academic year, she did research in Vienna with the Fulbright Program on Austrian Science Fiction.  Sophia joined the German Graduate Program at Vanderbilt in 2014.  Her interests include 18th Century German literature, the works of Friedrich Schiller and Heinrich von Kleist, the German Novelle, early 20th German art and culture, Science Fiction, Digital Humanities, and Second Language Acquisition.
