Undergraduate FAQ
Silke Schade is currently director of undergraduate studies for the German Studies program. Her office is in Furman Hall 011 and she can be reached per email (silke.schade@vanderbilt.edu) to make an appointment.
Denis Zhernokleyev is currently director of undergraduate studies for the Russian Studies program. His office is in Furman Hall 021 and he can be reached per email (denis.zhernokleyev@vanderbilt.edu) to make an appointment.
For German language classes, please contact our director of the German Language Program, Silke Schade (silke.schade@vanderbilt.edu).
For Russian language classes, please contact our coordinator of the Russian Language Program, Albina Khabibulina (albina.khabibulina@vanderbilt.edu).
To declare a German studies major or minor or a Russian studies major or minor, complete the Declaration of Major/Minor Form and submit it to Mattie Grace Fritscher. When you turn in your form, you will be assigned an adviser who will help you plan out your major or minor.

Applications for the German Studies Honors Program or the Russian Studies Honors Program are due in the spring of your junior year. For further questions, please contact Silke Schade for German studies or Denis Zhernokleyev for Russian studies.

Graduate FAQ
Meike Werner is our current director of graduate studies for the Ph.D. Program in German Studies. Her office is in Furman Hall 129 and she can be reached per email (meike.werner@vanderbilt.edu) to make an appointment.
Our annual application deadline is January 15 for the following fall semester. Please note that we are not admitting any graduate students for the 2021-2022 year.
Please submit the following materials with your application:

Three letters of recommendation (these should be submitted electronically)

Unofficial transcripts, uploaded with your application; if you receive an offer of admission, we will request mailed hard copies of these transcripts

Official GRE scores

International Applicants Only: Official TOEFL or IELTS scores; if your undergraduate degree was taught entirely in English, you may contact the department to request a waiver of this requirement
