Vivian Finch

Originally from Chatham, NJ, I grew up a dual citizen of the United States and Brazil.  I earned my both undergraduate degree (majors in German and Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies) and master’s degree (in German) from Vanderbilt University.  Currently, I am a PhD candidate working on my dissertation, which explores the publication and reception histories of Brazilian literature in post-war Germany.  Other research interests include 19th century German immigration literature in southern Brazil and experimental forms of German literature, such as concrete poetry.

As an instructor at Vanderbilt, I have had the opportunity to teach German 101 through 104, with an instructional focus on the use of digital media in the foreign language classroom.  I am a HASTAC scholar and a Graduate Teaching Affiliate with the Center for Teaching for the 2013-2014 academic year.
