Curtis Maughan

Postdoctoral Fellow

Curtis Maughan joined the German program at Vanderbilt in the fall of 2012 as a graduate student and in 2021 as a postdoctoral fellow. Curtis earned an MA in German Studies from CSU Long Beach amd later worked at the Cologne Game Lab (CGL) of the University of Applied Sciences, Cologne. During his time at CGL, Curtis has taught seminars on surveillance and interactivity, narratology and digital games, and audiovisual art and communication in the digital age. His dissertation addressed Walter Benjamin’s concept of the flâneur in relation to open world gameplay trends and game design practices.
