David Michelson

Associate Professor of Classical and Mediterranean Studies
Prof. Michelson is Associate Professor of the History of Christianity teaching as a faculty member in The Divinity School, The Graduate Department of Religion, and The Department Classical and Mediterranean Studies.
Michelson earned his Ph.D. in History from Princeton University with training in the history of the Middle East and Mediterranean in the periods of Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages (roughly 200-800 of the current era).
His teaching and research focus on the history of Christianity in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. In particular, he is interested in historical texts in the Syriac language (a dialect of Aramaic).
Michelson regularly supervises an immersion research cohort of undergraduate students through the Department of Classical and Mediterranean Studies.
