Shanks Workshop on Subfactors and Applications
The Shanks Workshop on Subfactors and Applications will be held at Vanderbilt September 30 to October 1, 2017. The workshop will bring together researchers working in areas of mathematics related to the theory of subfactors. This includes conformal field theory, statistical mechanical models, algebraic quantum field theory, quantum computing, tensor networks, low-dimensional topology. and fusion categories.
Speakers include Terry Gannon of the University of Alberta; Birgit Kaufmann of Purdue University; Zhengwei Liu of Harvard University; Tobias Osborne of the University of Hannover; James Tener of the University of California, Santa Barbara; Dylan Thurston of Indiana University; Simon Wood of Cardiff University; and Feng Xu of the University of California, Riverside.
Funding for the workshop is provided by Vanderbilt University and the Shanks endowment of the Vanderbilt Department of Mathematics. It is organized by Dietmar Bisch and Vaughan Jones, both of Vanderbilt University.
