Who are our true brothers and sisters? What happens when family loyalty comes into conflict with faith, especially when that faith can land us into the prison of the Inquisition? These are not theoretical questions for the 16th and 17th century Conversos at the heart of Prof. Perelis’ study of Crypto-Jewish life in the Atlantic World.
