Jessica Goldberg has been named the winner of this year’s fifth annual Jewish Studies Essay Competition for her paper “From Sholem-Aleichem’s Tevye to Fiddler on the Roof.”  This essay, originally composed for Prof. Judy Klass’s “American Jewish Songwriters” course, details the histories both of the original stories that served as the source material for the famous Broadway musical and of the changes that were made to them when they were turned into said musical.   Jessica, a first year student from St. Louis, Missouri, is majoring in Educational Studies as well as being pre-med.  An Ingram scholar, Jessica is involved in many community service organizations such as Grassroots and Challah for Hunger.  We congratulate Jesscia on her achievement.
