Thomas Roland Harris

Thomas is a first-year PhD student interested in the Atlantic World. He intends to explore questions of slavery, colonial religious ambition, and the formation of hybrid religious cultures spanning the American South, Caribbean, and African continent from the late eighteenth to early nineteenth century, with a particular focus on Muslim populations.

Prior to coming to Vanderbilt he earned a Bachelor's degree from The George Washington University, and Master's degree from Harvard University, both in Middle East Studies
