Thea Autry

Thea Autry is a fifth-year doctoral candidate in Vanderbilt's Department of English. Her research and teaching focus on 20th- and 21st-century U.S. literature, visual culture and theories of visuality, 19th- and 20th-century U.S. visual arts, critical race theory, and cultural geography. Her article, "'As out of a Seer's Crystal Ball': The Racialized Gaze in William Faulkner's Intruder in the Dust," was published in 2018 in The Faulkner Journal. Thea is spending AY 2019-2020 in residence at Kenyon College as a Marilyn Yarbrough Fellow.
