Katie Remaklus
Katie Remaklus is a first-year Ph.D. student from Cincinnati, Ohio. Her research interests include comparative Latin American feminist literature, pre- and post-colonial indigenous literature, gender and queer studies in the Americas, the role of cultural and linguistic translation, and expanding the analytical meaning of “literature” to include oral storytelling and textile work. Katie received a dual B.A. at Scripps College in Claremont, CA in Spanish, Latin American, and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures along with the Humanities Major: Interdisciplinary Studies in Culture. She received the Senior Thesis Award in Spanish, Latin American and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures for her thesis: “El tabú de ser mujer: Central and Latin American Feminist Literature in the Horror Genre.”
