Josh Caldwell
Professor of Mechanical Engineering
Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering (courtesy), Professor of Chemistry (courtesy), Director Interdisciplinary Materials Science graduate program, Director VINSE REU program
Dr. Caldwell will be accepting graduate students for Fall 2025.
The Caldwell Infrared Nanophotonic Materials and Devices Laboratory seeks to understand chemical and physical interactions within nanoscale to atomic-scale materials and how such interactions are mediated by such length scales. We employ a variety of infrared spectroscopic tools with length scales ranging from 10-nm to cms, and time scales ranging from 100-fs to seconds to achieve these goals.
Specializations
Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, nano-scale metrologies, nano-optics, chemical sensing, gas sensing, infrared spectroscopy, vibrational spectroscopy, solid state physics, semiconductor physics
