Elena Olazagasti-Segovia

Elena Olazagasti-Segovia, Ph.D. Universidad de Puerto Rico (Río Piedras), concentrates her research in the areas of contemporary Spanish women novelists, Latina writers, Puerto Rican women writers in Puerto Rico and in the USA, and film and cultural studies. She is the literary translator of Latina author, Judith Ortiz Cofer. In 1997 Dr. Olazagasti-Segovia won the Harriet S. Gilliam Excellence in Teaching Award. Since 2001 working with the Latino population has been an integral part of her courses. She has been recognized for this pedagogical approach with the Faculty Leadership in Service Learning Award (2003), the Ellen Gregg Ingalls Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching (2007), and the Orgullo Hispano Award given by Conexión Américas (2008).  (615) 322-6916 elena.o.segovia@vanderbilt.edu
