Murphy, a Senior Lecturer in the department of Spanish and Portuguese, has been teaching Spanish since 1999.  Arriving at Vanderbilt in 2005, he has taught a number of different courses at the elementary and intermediate levels.  He has also taught reading and translation for Graduate students.  Murphy participates as a faculty Vuceptor in the Vanderbilt Visions program, which is a university organization designed to assist first-year students in their orientation to the campus community.  He has also assisted the Director of Undergraduate studies in major/minor advising and intake for the department. Murphy has previously led student groups to Cuba and he has traveled extensively throughout Latin America.
