Environments

2021-2022

At any given time, each of us inhabits and participates in a multitude of environments (e.g., natural, built, social, familial, etc.). How do these environments shape us and, we, them? What can a study of environments bring to understandings of our lived experiences, the stories we tell, and the ways we care (or not) for one another and our planet?

David George Haskell delivered the 2022 Harry C. Howard, Jr., Lecture and discussed the sensory environment as a place of marvels rooted in deep time and as a place of present-day crisis. (Photo: Anne Rayner)
