Professor Gonzales, Professor McKay, and MHS students are conducting an online survey and online focus groups to better understand how the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ college students.

As news stories surface drawing attention to the vulnerability of low-income, international, and first-generation college students during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, MHS faculty and students want to ensure that the needs of LGBTQ college students are not being overlooked. Unfortunately, LGBTQ college students may be facing unique challenges as they navigate changes to their housing arrangements, daily routine, social support network, and access to important resources. This study will identify the needs of LGBTQ college students in order to inform the transition to online learning and/or the re-opening of colleges and universities.
