Welcome Professor, Julie Ward!
Julie Ward, incoming assistant professor of Medicine, Health, and Society, comes to us from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where her PhD will be awarded this summer. She also holds an MA and BNN from the University of Washington School of Nursing, and a graduate certificate from Johns Hopkins’ program in Injury and Violence. She has been an RN in three states. At Johns Hopkins she was the Project Coordinator for the Center for Gun Violence Solutions and for the Office of Public Health Practice and Training. She has published in the area of gun policy, including two forthcoming articles in Preventive Medicine, entitled “National Support for Gun Policies Among U.S. Adults in 2019 and 2021” and “Reimagining Public Safety: Public Opinion on Police Reform and Gun Violence prevention by Race and Gun Ownership in the United States.” Professor Ward will teach Foundations of Population Health in 2023-24.
