Zachary Clary

Zachary Clary is a third year PhD student in modern American history with a particular focus on the intellectual, political, and cultural history of the Black freedom struggle. He researches the perception, memory, and invocation of violence within the racial politics of the twentieth century. His advisors are Jefferson Cowie and Sarah Igo.

His work appears in The Washington Post-Made by History, The Chicago Tribune, History Channel-Online, Inside Higher Ed, The Richmond Times-Dispatch, and Smithsonian Magazine, among others.
