Steve Lipson

Steven J. Lipson's research focuses on 20th century U.S. social and political history, with particular interests in the history of education, religious history, and African-American history. His dissertation will look at elementary and secondary religious schooling in the United States since the 1960s, with an emphasis on evangelical Christian schools and Islamic schools. Prior to returning to academia, Steve worked at the American Institutes for Research, an education policy research organization in Washington, DC. A Pittsburgh native, Steve previously held a research internship at the Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh.  His dissertation committee includes Gary Gerstle, Sarah Igo, Christopher Loss, Dennis Dickerson, and James Hudnut-Beumler.
