Mustafa Ince
Mustafa Ince is a first-year PhD student with a research focus on Islamic law, comparative law, legal history, Islamic finance, and waqf law. His academic interests are particularly centered on the transformation of Islamic law through its interactions with capitalist economy and Western legal systems.
Before beginning his PhD studies at Vanderbilt University, Mustafa earned bachelor's degrees in both law and theology, followed by a master’s degree in Islamic law from Istanbul University. During his graduate studies, he served as a research assistant on various projects, delving into a wide range of topics within Islamic law. His research portfolio includes work on Islamic legal genres, copyright in Islamic law, waqf law, the transformation of fatwās in the modern period, Islamic family law, Islamic economics, and comparative law of obligations.
