Jessica S. Power

Jessica Power is a sixth year graduate student studying nineteenth-century Atlantic World, Latin American, and Caribbean history. She is specifically interested in connections across race and slavery, law, and imperial subjecthood and citizenship in the Americas. In particular, she is interested in the ways that free and enslaved Africans used the law and legal institutions across Atlantic borders to improve their lives and gain their freedom. Jessica is studying with Professor Jane Landers.
