Jaehyeong Yu

Jaehyeong Yu is a fourth year Ph.D. student in modern European and East Asian history. He is particularly interested in the transnational acoustic culture connecting Germany and Japan around 1900. His primary question concerns the musical understandings of diverse historical actors and their entanglement with sociocultural settings. By analyzing the interplay, he tries to portray the nuanced relationship between reason and anti-reason. His advisors are Celia Applegate and Gerald Figal.
