Gbenga Makinsun

Gbenga Makinsun is a second year Ph.D. student studying the history of colonial and postcolonial Africa. He is primarily interested in how the influx of foreign products and aggressive advertisement shaped African local commodities and consumer habits in colonial Nigeria. His research interest intersects with gender, race, identity, fashion, class, imperial history, colonialism, mobility, and modernity, among others. His advisors are Moses Ochonu and Tasha Epstein.
