Alexander Belovsky

Alex Belovsky is a sixth year Ph.D. student studying the history of early modern Europe.  He is primarily interested in the domestic history of France during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic eras.  Specifically, his work has focused on the French state’s changing relationship with provincial France during the Napoleonic period.  This focus was reflected in his Master’s Essay, La Ville de Napoléon : Reshaping the Vendée, which explored the impact that the renovation of La Roche-sur-Yon by the Napoleonic state had on Vendean conceptions of identity and hierarchy.
