Michelle Grundy, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of the Practice
Michelle M. Grundy currently serves as Director of the Master's Program in Biomedical Sciences and Assistant Professor of the Practice in Biological Sciences. Over the last eight years, she has served as the Director of the Health Professions Advisory Office at Vanderbilt with an appointment in the VU School of Medicine as Assistant Professor of Medical Administration. In this role, she developed and led programming to serve over 1100 undergraduate students pursuing careers in the health professions. Dr. Grundy earned her B.A. and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. After completing her Ph.D. from the Department of Microbiology & Immunology, she joined the Office of Biomedical Research Education & Training as Director of Recruiting for the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program (IGP). In 2002, she was named Assistant Director of Graduate Programs for the Vanderbilt IGP and the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). During this tenure, Dr. Grundy led the admissions efforts for both the Ph.D. and M.D., Ph.D. programs with responsibility for screening applications, interviewing candidates, and serving on admissions committees. She also served as Director of the Vanderbilt Summer Science Academy where she developed a passion for working with students in helping them navigate their decision-making and application to graduate and professional school programs. In 2015, Dr. Grundy was promoted to serve as Associate Director for Academic Programs & Operations for the Vanderbilt MSTP, where in addition to serving as a member of the MSTP Leadership Team, Dr. Grundy served on the Steering Committee for the National Association of MD-PhD program Directors.
