Ji You Whang
Lecturer in Korean
Ji You Whang received her Ph.D. in Korean Sudies at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. Her concentration is Korean language education as a foreign language and her doctorate focused on developing Korean Speaking proficiency tests. Her research interests are development of learner-oriented communicative class modules and a statistical validation of the reliability of measurements required during the language evaluation process and error analysis in language learners' interlanguage.
Before joining Vanderbilt, Ji You taught Korean to a variety of learners at Yonsei, Sogang, and Dongguk Universities in Seoul from 2010. She taught all levels of learners, including diplomats from the U.S., Australian, and Canadian embassies in South Korea. At Dongguk University she served as a senior lecturer at the beginner and intermediate levels. She also participated in writing Korean textbooks, preparations for TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean), and textbooks.
