Kyle Harper

Graduate Student

Kyle L. Harper is a historical archaeologist whose research focuses on ribeirinho and quilombo communities in the Municipality of Gurupá in Lower Amazon Basin of Brazil. Kyle is primarily interested in the formation of these communities during the colonial era, and the effects of their incorporation into the emerging capitalist world-economy. His other research interests include community archaeology and ethnoarchaeology. Kyle hopes to use his research to both better understand the history of inequality experienced by these communities, and to help protect and promote their cultural heritage.
