She/her/hers
Kathryn E. Peters is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Vanderbilt University. Her work in rural Paraguay examines how farmers practice ethics of care in their communities and build coalitions with international allies in order to defend their way of life within the context of economic and political systems which privilege the interests of transnational agribusiness corporations and narcotraffickers. She holds a BS in Environmental Science from Oklahoma State University and a dual MA in Latin American Studies and Community and Regional Planning from the University of New Mexico (UNM). Kathryn has served as an agroforestry Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay, an Americorps volunteer on a community farm in Albuquerque, NM, and has work experience as a researcher and educator on SNAP-Ed and NIH funded projects at UNM.
