Hillary Taylor

Hillary Taylor is a sixth year graduate student studying fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Italy. Her dissertation, tentatively titled "Mining Alum, Mining Minds: Exchanging Knowledge in Medicean Italy, 1462-1560," explores the trade of alum, a mineral used as a dying agent in the woolen-cloth industry. She is interested in questions of how alum was valued and described by Florentine merchants and bankers. Hillary works with Professor William Caferro.
