Shuxian Song repeats as Ping Pong Champion
April 21, 2025 – For the second consecutive year, second year PhD student Shuxian Song captured the Department of Mathematics Ping Pong Championship. Song prevailed in the championship round in three straight games against Professor Akram Aldroubi. All three games were highly competitive. The crowd was treated to a breathtaking display of unbelievable volleys, ferocious winners, and wicked serves. Prof. Aldroubi fought valiantly, but in the end, Song’s overall game was overwhelming.
In the completely unanticipated run-up to the finals, Professor Dan Margalit defeated Will McDermott in three straight games to capture the title of third place in the tournament. At the conclusion of the day’s competition, Commissioner Greg Borissov presented Song with the championship trophy. When asked if Song would return next year to defend her title, Song simply stared menacingly.
