Communication Studies Sponsors Roxane Gay Keynote at RSA
The Department of Communication Studies was proud to sponsor Dr. Roxane Gay’s keynote address at the Rhetoric Society of America’s 20th Biennial Conference in Baltimore. Dr. Gay is trained as a rhetorician and is best known for her popular books, Bad Feminist, Difficult Women, and Hunger. She is also a contributing writer to the New York Times and her work has appeared in outlets that include Best American Mystery Stories 2014, Best American Short Stories 2012, Best Sex Writing 2012, A Public Space, McSweeney’s, Tin House, Oxford American, American Short Fiction, and Virginia Quarterly Review, among others. Dr. Gay also has a newsletter, The Audacity, and a podcast, The Roxane Gay Agenda. Dr. Gay spoke on the topic of gun violence in America and the necessity of speaking truth to power, especially when institutions, such as Congress, fail to protect our most vulnerable.
