Annalisa Azzoni

Senior Lecturer in Hebrew Bible

Annalisa Azzoni is Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near Eastern Cultures in Vanderbilt University’s Divinity School, Graduate Department of Religion, and Religious Studies Department. Dr. Azzoni teaching interests span from the Hebrew Bible to various West Semitic languages, to Ancient Near Eastern history, with a particular focus on women and sexuality. An internationally-respected specialist of Aramaic, Dr. Azzoni has developed her professional experience in Italy, Israel, and the United States. She is currently working at her two books: The Private Life of Women in Persian Egypt, and Aramaic Legal Texts from the Neo-Assyrian to the Roman Empire. Dr. Azzoni is also involved as the editor of the Aramaic Texts in the Persepolis Fortification Archive Project.
